  • Appropriate training at all levels (Provincial, District and Village) using the most appropriate delivery mechanisms and trainers
See below for our track record. Our experienced trainers can train in Lao, Khmu or Hmong. They use state of the art participatory learning and action methods appropriate to subject and target group. A focus of our trainings and training methods on province, district and village level is working appropriately with ethnic minorities and valuing local knowledge (IKAP), as well as gender issues and action research and training on land and environment issues.

  • Prepackaged or individually designed courses and programs when and where you want them
    Training fees for our public trainings at RRDTC are usually 180$ per particioant for a one-week training course. Our fees vary around US$ 180 per day and trainer depending on the level of training required, plus US$ 100 per day for preparation and report writing (in Lao). We use two trainers if there are more than 10  participants. Additional costs for tailor made courses outside RRDTC include travel costs, per diem for trainers if the training is outside of Vientiane, accommodation if needed, costs of certificates, handbooks , and materials (US$8-10 total per participant depending on the course). If using the RRDTC Training Center, a charge is made of US$20 per day, $3 per day for cleaning and serving food. Lunch and breaktime snack charges are charged per participant depending on the fanciness and lavishness of the food wanted.

  • Information, research and curriculum development 

The RRDTC Resource Center is being set up focusing on training materials and community development resources. We have books, reports, articles, videos and an electronic library on community development  processes and methods and information related to community development in Laos. Actors in Lao community development are welcome to explore theses resources upon request.  A research advisor and our Khmu and Hmong sub-association CAMKID  will assist you in participative and action research activities which value local knowledge.

  • Study tours and other activities designed to suit our clients’ precise needs.

    Example: a Theatre training workshop was commissioned by GAPE for their staff with CAMKID providing the theatre techniques and RRDTC and government staff the technical input, guided by Ms. Rachel Clarke, DED advisor. Currently RRDTC is setting up village networks for joint managment and protection of natural resources in Southern Laos and organising village to village exposure visits.     
  • Resources for specific technical courses and compilation and publication of training materials

    Handbooks are regularly developed and updated and made available to course attendees. RRDTC has also visual training aids some of which (e.g. posters) can be purchased.

In 2009 RRDTC trained 1.999 people (1.093 female). Our customers and partners expressed their satisfaction with our services in our Annual Training Evaluation and Needs Assessment (7.3 out of 10 points in the overall quality ranking) we strive to continuously improve our services through regular monitoring and evaluation of all trainings, annual training evaluations and needs assessments and regular update of all training materials based on action research in the field.
